Materials

Basic materials
Most models has some kind of diffuse color or diffuse texture map. This is just the basic setup. To get a little more realistic result you can add opacity to your scene. This is useful for glass, etc. and can either be a fixed amount or controlled by an opacity map.
Both glass and metal often reflect the world around them. For this you can add a reflection map. Cubemaps and spheremaps can be used depending on your needs.
Last you can natively add lightmaps to your models. Lightmaps will add realism to the scene since most real-world scenarios are somehow influenced by lights and shadows.
VisuAll also supports vertex colors, so you can "paint" the geometry directly and add additional details to models.

Advanced materials - Mirrors, water & reflective surfaces
VisuAll provides you with special easy-to-use built in shader based materials to further improve your scenes. For the moment these are mirrors, water as well as reflective surfaces which could be used for realistic floor reflections etc.
Mirrors and reflective surfaces could be distorted using a normalmap to create the illusion of a bumped surface.

Water comes in two flavours: normal water as well as one simplified version that could be used for water running down surfaces etc. Use the water as it is or customize it with your own normalmaps.

These materials could be used in any scene to enhance the experience.
